Common questions from coaches
How exactly is the 50% calculated?
It’s 50% of the gross sale price. Bundle sale ($997) = $498.50 to you. Phase 1 sale ($497) = $248.50. Phase 2 ($697) = $348.50. Phase 3 ($897) = $448.50. If your referral buys on the 3-payment bundle plan ($367 × 3 = $1,101), you earn 50% on each payment as it comes in.
How long is the cookie window?
30 days. When a parent or swimmer clicks your share link, they have 30 days to purchase before the tracking cookie expires. This is the industry-standard window for affiliate programs. If they don’t buy in that window, simply mention it again — the next click resets the timer for another 30 days.
How do I share this with my team without seeming pushy?
The same way you’d recommend a piece of training equipment, a swim camp, or a stroke clinic — matter-of-factly, as one of several tools that help. Most affiliate coaches mention it once at a parent meeting (“here’s a dryland program a few of you have asked about”), include a one-line link in the team newsletter, and let interested parents come to them with questions. You’re not selling — you’re informing.
Some affiliate coaches openly disclose they earn a commission. Others treat it like any other recommendation. Either approach is fine; what we don’t allow is misleading claims about results.
Will this conflict with my existing team training?
No. The program is designed to complement, not replace, what you do on deck. Most affiliate coaches use it as a tool for: (1) swimmers who want extra dryland on top of team practice, (2) swimmers who travel often and miss sessions, (3) the off-season when teams aren’t meeting, and (4) parents who ask “what should my kid do at home?” The 12-week progression is periodized to align with normal swim seasons.
When and how do I get paid?
Monthly. Sales close on the last day of each month. Refunds and returns are deducted. Net commissions are paid out by the 15th of the following month via your chosen method — PayPal, direct deposit, or paper check. There’s no minimum threshold during your first 6 months as a founding affiliate. After that, the standard $50 minimum applies.
What about refunds?
The JR Dryland System has a 90-day money-back guarantee for end customers. If a swimmer’s parent or coach refunds within 90 days, the corresponding affiliate commission is reversed. This is industry standard. Most refund rates run under 4%, so most months your earnings are unaffected.
Is there a contract or long-term commitment?
No. You can stop being an affiliate any time by emailing us. Your earned commissions through that point are still paid out. We don’t require minimum referrals, exclusive promotion, or any commitment. The only rules: don’t make false claims about the program, don’t spam, don’t bid on JR Sport Strong-trademarked terms in paid ads.
What stops a parent from buying directly to skip me?
Nothing — but it doesn’t hurt you. The cookie tracks the click, not the user’s identity. Once a parent clicks your link, you’re credited for any purchase in the next 30 days from that browser, even if they close the tab and come back days later. Most buyers come through directly after their first click anyway, so this is rare.
Can I use a coupon code instead of a share link?
Yes. Each affiliate gets a personalized coupon code as well. When a swim parent uses your code at checkout, you’re credited regardless of whether they clicked your link. Codes are useful for venues where links don’t work well — like printed flyers at swim meets, a verbal mention at parent meetings, or in a spoken introduction.
What about taxes?
You’re responsible for taxes on commissions you earn. If you earn $600 or more in a calendar year, we’ll send you a 1099-NEC the following January. International affiliates handle taxes per their own country’s rules — we don’t withhold.
